Mr. Toro leads Macquarie Capital’s project development team for Latin America and leads Macquarie’s strategic expansion in development investments across the Latin American region. He brings a diverse background in business and project development with broad experience in the U.S., Canada, and key Latin American markets.
Prior to joining Macquarie, Mr. Toro led the utility scale project development team for SunEdison in Mexico where he managed the development of a portfolio of wind and solar projects and was responsible for originating new greenfield solar projects throughout Mexico. Prior to SunEdison, Mr. Toro spearheaded Invenergy’s expansion into Latin America. Invenergy is the largest privately held independent power producer in North America. While with Invenergy, Mr. Toro established local offices and development partnerships in Mexico and Peru, originating and closing acquisitions of wind and solar development projects and managing the ongoing development of an 1,800 MW portfolio of wind, solar, and thermal projects throughout the region. In addition to his international development and management experience, Mr. Toro held several engineering roles with Southwest Power Pool and Entergy Corporation, giving him a deep knowledge of power markets, transmission planning and operations, and vertically integrated utilities.
